Our first challenge was removing the lead-based paint that covered these Craftsman cabinets. As we couldn't sand the paint, we heated it and scraped all of the painted surfaces.
A lack of electrical outlets was our second difficulty. This house was built at time when electricity was not a necessity in the kitchen. Subsequent renovations installed the electric at inconvenient locations. We moved the electric to the new marble backsplash and even installed outlets on the newly-designed island.
Next, we updated the appliances and found a farmhouse sink that fit perfectly in the restricted space. The original wood floors were brought back to life by removing layers of old flooring. The finishing touch to this project was the installation of gorgeous, new granite counters.
